Tundavala Stadium to undergo facelift by September

Lubango - Tundavala Stadium located in Lubango, southern Huila province, is undergoing face-lift, said Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports, stressing that the recovery of grass which started a week ago is set to end by September.

Speaking to Angop on Wednesday, the Provincial Director of the sector in Huila, Osvaldo Lunda  said works will involves burning the weed, improving the land, repair of the sprinklers, leveling and compaction of the floor. 

Approved by the International Federation of the Sports, the grass seeds used were acquired from Namíbia.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports is tasked with ensuring the maintenance of the infrastructure. 

Built in 2009, the National Stadium of Tundavala cost USD 69 million, with capacity to host 21,040 spectators.  

The stadium was the home to group D of the African Nations Championship held in Angola in 2010
