Xangongo 's Power supply reinforced

Ondjiva - Electricity supply in Xangongo village, Municipality of Ombadja, southern Cunene province, was reinforced with the inauguration last Sunday of the five-megawatt hybrid power plant.

The hybrid power plant Inaugurated by the Minister of State for Economic and Social Development, Manuel Nunes Júnior, is a combination of solar and thermal energy, consisting of  6.156 solar panels that generate energy continues to be converted into two megawatts and four generators that produce three more, making up a total of five megawatts of installed capacity.

This plant boost the production capacity in the municipality, which has a generator, set that produces three megawatts.

With the increase in production capacity, more than 12.000 consumers in the town of Xangongo and its surroundings will benefit from energy, and the distribution network will be extended to the communes of Humbe and Chiulo village.

The hybrid power plant construction is valued at 19.6 million US dollars and the works lasted more than a year.
