Minister wants improved revenue collection mechanism

Luanda - Angolan minister of Energy and Water João Baptista Borges Wednesday urged the sector's companies to improve revenue collection mechanisms to contribute to the country's development process and ensure its sustainability.

The recommendation came at the end of swearing ceremony of the new boards of directors of the Public Electricity Production Company (PRODEL-EP) and the National Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE-EP).

The minister considered priority the services provided and collection of revenue in a sector that wants to develop such relevant branches of the economy.

“It is an aspect that concerns everyone on a daily basis. We need, more and more, to see reflected in our treasury the revenues from products made available to citizens ”, he said.

As for the tariff subsidies that have been scraped since August 2019, the official said that companies should secure their revenues through collections.

According to the minister, the aforementioned revenues will serve, in addition to better remuneration for workers, for improving working conditions in both sectors.

Under the Presidential Decree, Joaquim Ventura was appointed CEO of PRODEL, EP.

The list includes Pedro Eduardo Manuel Afonso, Executve Director; Euclides Morais de Brito, Executive Director; Benício Pedro Machado, Executive Director; and Rosa Afonso Miguel, Exeutive Director.

Francisco de Maria de Meireles Vasconcelos Júnior and  Emanuela Bernardett Afonso Vieira Lopes were appointed non executive Administrator.

According to the President's Civil Affairs's Office, João Lourenço appointed, in another Decree, Hélder de Jesus Garcia Adão to the position of  CEO of ENDE, EP.

João de Deus Pereira Furtado was also named Executive Director; Pedro Estêvão Buca, Executive Director; Manuel de Jesus Neto Adão, Executive Director; and Isabel Augusto dos Santos, Executive Director.

Venceslau Txindji Chissupa was sworn in as Executive Director of the Public Water Company.
