Minister announces incorporation of optical fiber in aerial communications
Luanda - Angolan minister of Transport Ricardo D'Abreu announced Wednesday the inclusion of fiber optic cable in air navigation services, installation of digital radio and new security systems, as one of the priorities for the National Air Navigation Company (ENNA).

Speaking at first anniversary of ENNA, Ricardo D'Abreu, who also listed some emergency measures, said the move was part of the modernisation process of the company's technical and technological means.
He also announced urgent measures such as the interconnection of navigation services, located in airport control towers, via optical fiber, transporting the signal from remote sites to Luanda and vice versa.
The minister also spoke of the installation of digital radios for aeronautical communication, as well as new surveillance systems.
Among the recommendations, the minister stressed the need to attract new customers, aimed to increase revenues from air navigation fees, as well as the commencement of the training process for professionals with the support of international institutions.
The minister praised the change made from ENANA to ENNA-EP, stating that this is a process that needs and should be consolidated.
ENNA EP, which replaces ENANA, started its activity on July 1, 2019, under the Presidential Decree No. 206/19.
ENNA is tasked with licensing companies, coordinating and supervising activities carried out at airports.
It is also responsible for preparation for studies, planning, construction and development of new civil air navigation systems and infrastructures, their national and international coordination, the management of all rights and obligations of any source and nature, including contracts.
ENNA has 590 workers - 420 men and 161 women.
