SA Airways halts operations to Luanda

Luanda - The South African Airways will stop flying to the Angolan capital, starting this Saturday - February 29 -, putting an end to almost thirty years of operations to this southern African regional destination, for alleged financial reasons.

According to ANGOP, in addition to Angola, on this same day, SAA will cease flights to the cities of Abidjan (Coast d'Ivoire) via Accra (Ghana), Entebbe (Uganga), Ndola (Zambia), Sao Paulo (Brazil), Livingston (California - USA), Munich (Germany), Guangzhou and Hong Kong (China).

The suspension of the Johannesburg / Luanda route and to these other destinations happens after the South African flag carrier announced, to the cancellation of around 150 flights as of this month of February, to contain losses that it has been facing since 2011.

In a press release, South African Airways informs that, as a result, all passengers with tickets for canceled flights as of March 1 will receive a full refund, within the framework of the measures related to this operator's restructuring plan.
